Target taking a turn for the worst? Wal-Mart dominates retail during economic downturn?
I am saddened and disheartened by the fact that Wal-Mart gains prosperity during these difficult times, while Target could be headed towards serious trouble, as Target struggles to change their brand identity from "chic" to "cheap".
Come to think of it, it has been months and months since I've shopped at Target. Perhaps because I realize I can never resist buying a few items on their $1 racks, a shirt, pair of shoes, some stationary, Archer Farms goodies, etc. when all I walked in there for was toilet paper. Bland Wal-Mart shopping has helped me reduce these impulsive splurges, quelling any urges within to buy based on well packaged & designed products. I have weened myself off you Target. But I hope we can be reunited as soon as economic conditions improve (somebody please let me know when that is so we can do some crazy, impulsive shopping asap).
